The Latest on the Warwick Farm Races

Warwick farm races are held at New South Wales and it is the city's most awaited horse racing event. The first race to be held here was in 1925 and Chipping Norton Stakes was the first race to commence on this renowned racecourse. The first winner of the Warwick farm races was Wallace Mortlake, who had to run ten furlongs back in the day since Warwick farm races held race events that were about 2,000 meters in length.

The Warwick farm racecourse today has a circumference of 1,936 meters and a straight of 326 meters. The racecourse consist of sharp bends, especially when one gets to the 1,200 meter mark. Since the Warwick farm racecourse is pretty tight, with regard to the track, trailing horses would have a bit of difficulty catching up with front runners because they would have to run very wide so that they could catch up from behind. Races here have starting points at 1,000 meters, 1,200 meters, 1,400 meters, 1,600 meters and 2,200 meters.

The Chipping Norton Stakes is the most famous of all Warwick Farm Races and the most distinguished winner for this event was Danleigh who won the 1,600 meter Race #6. It was Danleigh's fourth win in the Group 1 category and rider Hugh Bowman performed exceedingly well. Chris Waller, Danleigh's owner, was ecstatic about the win and had two things to celebrate on that day: Danleigh's victory and his birthday. It was a glorious win for all of them and traders and punters are expecting another victory on the next Chipping Norton Stakes. Other notable winners are: Foxwedge (Race #1-The Clarry Conners Plate), New Day Rising (Race #2-Liverpool Leader Handicap), King Lionheart (Race #3-Alconex Fire Handicap), Atomic Force (Race #4-Tab Number 1 Club Handicap), Parables (Race #5-Patinack Farm Surround Stakes), Triple Elegance (Race #7-Liverpool City Cup), and Jersey Lily (Race #8-Illes Racing & Breeding Wiggle Quality).
